Does every breast lump mean cancer?

Not necessarily. Most breast lumps are not cancer. Medical assessment can identify the cause.

What might cause it?

Cysts and fibrocystic changes are common benign causes. A lump alone is not enough to determine a diagnosis.

What is a helpful next step?

  • See a healthcare professional for any new breast or underarm lump, even if it is painless.
  • Mention when you first noticed it and any changes in size, skin, or nipple.
